Paperwork Madness

As a component of a holiday gift, I recently gave my parents an American Express gift card. I had it sent to me so I could wrap it with the other parts of the gift. Along with the card, the envelop included five pages of legal fine print. Insane; my parents would have been lost and nervous had they received the gift card directly.

My kid gave me a $25 Amex gift card for xmas. I used it once for ~$11. I have since tried to use it about 5 times for various amounts, all of which have failed. I hate this. These cards are such a scam. Serious pain in the ass. Now I have to call these jerks and figure out what the problem is. Almost not worth the remaining ~$14 wasting my time on hold.

Haha. Yeah, gift cards aren’t the best gifts. Given my goal (making repeated trips to Baltimore nicer for my parents), though, it seemed like the best idea. Hopefully they won’t have trouble; the restaurants I wrote up for them all accept American Express, so that should decrease the likelihood of problems.
