Increasingly Bad Press

During the past couple of years, I have noticed a number of print media outlets becoming worse. When I say this, I mean the quality of the reporting and writing, and not concerns over the credibility of the publication.

Here’s a list of some of the publications that have most caught my attention and why:

The Economist: Worse writing, increasingly partisan, decreasingly concerned with civil liberties and rights
Wall Street Journal: Increasingly fluff filled
New York Times: Worse writing
Washington Post: Worse writing, increasingly fluff filled

If I am correct that these (and other?) publications have less skilled journalists, where are all the more skilled journalists working? Are we seeing a Google effect for journalism? What company is Google’s equivalent? Do not say blogs.
