I understand exchanging goods for services is a difficult thing. And WiGo Wireless, a Falls Church, Virginia, reseller of cell phone plans that I have recommended in the past, struggles with this exact problem. The point of this post is tell you never to interact with WiGo Wireless, or at least its sales person Paul Jaeger. If you understand this, then there is no point in reading further.
The simple version of the story is that Paul Jaeger and WiGo Wireless actively lied to me in selling a phone that does not sync with my computer and in selling me a more expensive service plan. Once I realized both of these deceptions, I demanded my money back. They refunded me all but $15, saying that this $15 is a non-refundable upgrade fee. Besides the fact that my decision to upgrade was based upon Paul Jaeger and Wigo Wireless misleading me, they (1) never filed the paperwork to actually upgrade my service (i.e., I asked for a refund before they actually upgraded my service) and (2) their bill did not specify this was a non-refundable fee.
In the end, I filed complaints with my bank and the Better Business Bureau, and received the refund in full. The lesson, as promised in the first paragraph, is do not do business with WiGo Wireless or Paul Jaeger.
Three last tidbits:
(1) The repetitious use of WiGo Wireless and Paul Jaeger is meant to assist with search engines.
(2) If you want the long version of this story, which has even more instances of lies and deception on Paul Jaeger’s and WiGo Wireless’ parts, I can e-mail you my four-page single-spaced letter.
(3) I also had the pleasure of paying a “migration fee” when I moved from ATT to Cingular, a fee I doubt Cingular will refund me now that they are ATT (again).
I’m really suprised with your comments. I have dealt with WiGo Wireless for almost five years and I have found them to be far and away the BEST wireless company i have ever done business. If you can’t afford to do business with a quality company you really shouldn’t trash them on the web. $15 bucks!! Who cares???
Here is the thing, I do not think they are a quality company. As with other companies and representatives who repeatedly lie and defraud, I avoid them. You, however, may do what you like when you want.
Clearly the issue is not $15. If it was, I would continue doing business with WiGo Wireless after my bank reimbursed me.
As for being able to “afford” to trash them, my handling and explanation of the situation is hardly a trashing, as it is more of a criticism–particularly in the letter I sent to WiGo Wireless, Better Business Bureau, and my bank. I respectively pursued every avenue, never once preventing them from presenting their side of the case, and always patiently listened to Paul Jaeger’s responses.
Perhaps because you can afford to do business with such a company, you should not post to the Web? Or maybe you _do_ care, and that is why you posted.
In any event, thanks for reading and participating!
well i apologize that you had a bad experience, but i can inform you now that Paul Jaeger no longer works at Wigo Wireless.
I purchased a phone for $120 from WiGOAttic, which the WiGo Wireless site describes as their new webstore. They deducted money from my bank account a month ago and I have received no phone. There was one response to my first email inquiry, then nothing. The webstore website states their physical address is the WiGo Wireless store in Falls Church, VA, but the two times I have called their store, their employees claim to have no knowledge or information about WiGOAttic other than it is a “sister” company. I left my contact information twice for the WiGoWireless manager to contact me but received no response. Today I went to the store in person to speak to the person I was told is the manager. Ironically, his name is “Cheaty.” Cheaty admitted WiGoAttic is a “sister” company but he denied the physical WiGo Wireless store has anything to do with them. He said he has no way to get in touch with them but if I leave my name and number (for the third time) he will let his manager know about the problem. When I asked Cheaty who his manager his, who owns or is responsible for the WiGo Wireless store, he told me he does not know. So now I am being told by the “manager” of the store that he does not know the name and number of the person who employs him, and even if he did he would not give me that information because it would not be right to give it to me. Okaaaay. I am now at home where I will call the local police so I can make a formal report of theft, showing the policeman my debit card statement which clearly shows the debit from my account a month ago and says “WIGO Attic 703-241-9446 VA. Doing a reverse look-up online clearly shows this phone number to be the WiGo Wireless phone number located in the store I just left. Next, my husband, who is also a lawyer will issue a demand letter for the crummy $120 they stole from me and we will go to small claim court to get it. I will also file a complaint with the Attorney Generals office because this is far more than just a $%#-up, it is a pattern of lies and obfuscation that might lead to others being victimized worse than I have.
Sounds like typical WiGo. Thankfully, you have a solid plan for resolving the situation (I also like to use BBB).
Perhaps not surprisingly, this post receives a lot of visitors and search results, probably because many people have serious problems with their services.
