Things I Learned this Week

Among the things I learned this week:
* Betteridge’s Law of Headlines states that if a headline ends with a question mark, the answer is no. (Courtesy: Matt Levine/Money Stuff)

* The absolute deliciousness of wild-caught Alaskan salmon overnighted to your doorstep. (Courtesy: DK)

* A thousandth-of-a-second in men’s world-class swimming is equal to about two centimeters of distance traveled. The swimming governing body (FINA) allows three centimeters of variation among pool lanes. It seems picking a shorter lane could yield significant results, although FINA uses hundredth-of-a-second times to mitigate this. (Courtesy: Tim Burke/Deadspin)

* Democrats Abroad is state-level organization with delegate votes, as recognized by the Democratic National Committee. It doesn’t seem as if the Republican Party has an equivalent. (Courtesy: Democratic National Convention)

* Uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Solitaire Collection on Windows 10 if your Grandpa can’t load his daily challenges and receives an Internet connection issue. (Courtesy: Personal Experience)

* “At the six Sweetgreen locations where cash is not accepted, employees can perform 5 to 15 percent more transactions an hour, [Mr. Jonathan Neman, co-founder and co-CEO of Sweetgreen] said.” (Courtesy: Gloria Dawson/NYT)
