I just noticed that the Washington DC Craigslist page has sub-groups for DC, NoVA, and Maryland. Not sure how they decided on the subfolder names, but cool nonetheless.

DC DnB
The past six months or so has seen an incredible explosion of drum ‘n’ bass nights in DC. I have noticed at least four new nights in the immediate area, and it appears that outlying areas are joining the movement.
Why is this happening? Just about everywhere else, dnb is being pushed aside for other material. Many dnb fans are moving on to new worlds (e.g., dubstep or even finally getting into German minimalism) while lobbing criticisms of stale, soul-less, and pop at the current (worldwide) dnb scene.
Is this a case of DC just being several years behind the curve? Or is DC ahead of the curve somehow? Or is DC not on the curve?
For the record, DC has always–well, as long as I’ve been around–had a decent number of dnb nights and events for dnb. These rarely pushed the edge, but usually provided a good time.
Five Things I/We Love About DC
DC’s hipper-than-thou fashion group Brightest Young Things asked various local celebs to create a list of five things they love about DC for Valentine’s Day. One of those people BYT asked is Lara. She requested my help, and this is what we came up with (click on image for a larger image). You can view the other lists on BYT’s blog entry.
